The introduction of the Encryption File System (EFS) within Windows and NTFS allowed users’ access to filesystem-level encryption, therefore enabling transparent encryption for protecting confidential data from any attackers that might have physical access to the PC in question.

In an attempt to offer a simpler deployment of EFS for the everyday user, EncryptIT was designed, in order to allow users to back up their EFS certificates to PFX files. The application also offers the opposite, by enabling one to decrypt the said data. Furthermore, encrypts and decrypts directories, and allows one to define grants of access to other users that are in the same domain.

Users have access to a simple tutorial regarding the use of the application, which was kindly provided by the developer here. Otherwise, adding data to the application is done via drag-and-dropping and either individual or multiple files can be inputted at the same time.

In addition to the feature buttons and the data inputting procedures, the app also comes equipped with a dedicated log display, which is offered via a “Status Information” section.
